Chronology of Infant Jesus Parish
1903-Montfort Fathers purchased land in Port Jefferson and established the parish of Infant Jesus.
1905-Construction is completed on the mission house which served as a rectory and chapel.
1905-Daughters of Wisdom arrive and establish the first Catholic school in the Port Jefferson area.
1907-The Daughters of Wisdom found St. Charles Hospital.
1912-The construction of Infant Jesus Church is completed.
1938-The new Infant Jesus School is opened and is operated by the Daughters of Wisdom.
1941-St. Theresa of Avila Chapel at St. Charles Hospital is completed.
1951-A new wing of four classrooms is added to the Infant Jesus School.
1953-The Golden Anniversary of Infant Jesus Parish is celebrated.
1965-The Infant Jesus Convent is constructed.
1978-The parish of Infant Jesus celebrated its 75th Anniversary.
1984-The school building, classrooms, convent, and lower chapel are renovated.
1984-The Montfort Fathers and Daughters of Wisdom leave Infant Jesus parish due to dwindling vocations.
1988-Infant Jesus school celebrates its Golden Anniversary.
1991-The Parish of Infant Jesus accepts control of the 500 seat St. Theresa of Avila Chapel at St. Charles Hospital.
1992-Infant Jesus Parish Center/Our Lady of Wisdom opens.
1996-The Infant Jesus Chapel at St. Charles Hospital is refurbished.
